Custom made Juliet RailFabtech was started in 2002 by Brendan Connell & Shaun Hooper working from a garden workshop. After a short time the company had to look for larger premises and moved to an industrial unit in a boatyard at Merlin Quay Southampton. The business continued to grow with repair work and new build fit outs. By mid 2003 a larger workshop was needed as we had out grown the unit at Merlin Quay, in September the company suffered the tragic loss of Brendan in a road accident.

In February 2004 Fabtech relocated to OJ’s industrial Park at Claybank Road Portsmouth.

Song of the Whale IFAW's Research VesselAfter moving to Portsmouth a large welding contract was secured which resulted in the employment of another welder / fabricator.

At this time 90% of our work was for the marine industry and it was felt that the company needed to broaden its customer base and move more into the architectural side of work.

The company’s workload continued to grow and in 2006 the adjoining unit at Claybank Road became available allowing us to take on more work and to install a mandrel tube-bending machine. The work force at this time had reached three full time and one part time employees as well as an apprentice fabricator welder.

In April 2007 we moved to our current workshop at 11 Aston Road, Waterlooville. This has put all aspects of the company under one roof and has allowed us to have a dedicated polishing shop with a full time polisher.

Fabtech now employs five full time and one part time employee and through major investment in machinery and workshop facilities feels it is in a position to carry out almost any fabrication work within our scope to a very high standard.
